Supporting builders and creators

About Community Keeps Building

Community Keeps Building is the flagship programme of Nervos Community Catalyst — a structured initiative that rewards community members for contributing to the CKB ecosystem through microgrant-backed tracks. Whether you're a developer, content creator, advocate, or community organiser, there's a pathway designed to help you grow your skills and make a meaningful impact.

CKBuilders

At the heart of the programme is CKBuilders — the Builders Track — a growing cohort of developers learning to build on CKB and working towards their own on-chain applications. Designed to welcome developers from total beginners to experienced coders, it is a structured three-month programme that takes participants from fundamentals through to working prototypes on the CKB blockchain. Participants are guided through CKB's tooling and documentation via theory (docs and tutorials) and hands-on practice such as running local nodes, constructing transactions, deploying contracts, and experimenting with real tools and SDKs — all supported by a peer community and hands-on resources.

Active projects within the cohort range from a crypto point-of-sale terminal and a prediction market to an on-chain land registry and a mobile light client — all with a clear path towards Community Fund DAO grant applications.

What is CKB?

CKB is a secure, scalable Layer-1 blockchain built with a robust, flexible foundation. It draws inspiration from Bitcoin's proof of work and UTXO infrastructure and combines it with extreme flexibility thanks to its RISC-V virtual machine — making it one of the most flexible and innovative blockchains in the industry, supporting cutting-edge developments such as passkey technology, quantum-resistant cryptography, and privacy features.

You can read more about CKB's architecture on docs.nervos.org, the Nervos Knowledge Base, and via the Nervos Nation explainer videos.

What you get as a CKBuilder

  • Monthly stipend — during the three-month programme you receive a stipend that enables you to dedicate time to learning and building.
  • Guided learning & structure — a clear curriculum using the official Nervos docs, the CKBuilders Handbook, and CKB Academy, plus regular 1-to-1 reviews.
  • Community & mentor support — help from experienced developers and peer-to-peer support from fellow CKBuilders, making blockchain development far less daunting.
  • Flexibility — the programme is part-time friendly, ideal for evenings and weekends alongside regular work or study.
  • A real portfolio — by the end your GitHub will show a trail of genuine work: dev-chain setups, smart-contract experiments, and prototype dApps.
  • Pathway to further funding — if your proof-of-concept shows promise, you may qualify for continued ecosystem funding through the Community Fund DAO.

Criteria

The programme is ideal for existing blockchain developers or web developers with a few years of experience, including those working in JavaScript, TypeScript, or Rust, though C, Java, Lua, and more are also supported. The programme is beginner-friendly with plenty of tutorials and community guidance, and its structure encourages part-time and incremental working at a pace manageable alongside your regular commitments.

Other Tracks

Beyond CKBuilders, the programme supports content creators, advocates, pioneers (those starting new CKB communities), and leaders. Each track has defined activities, a clear progress pathway, and monthly remuneration. A bounty board at ckbrewards.org is also available and open to anyone — a great entry point for getting involved without formally joining a track.
